November 10
Forest High School will host its annual Veterans’ Day Program at 9 a.m. in the Auditorium.  The program will be followed by a brunch sponsored by the BETA Club students.  All Veterans and community members are invited to attend.  For more information contact Allan Atkison at Forest High School.

November 10
Bettye Mae Jack Middle School will be celebrating Veterans’ Day on November 10th at 9:00 AM. All local Veterans are invited as well as encouraged to attend our celebration to pay honor to them. Mississippi’s US Senator Roger Wicker will be the key-note speaker. We will also have a host of local officials and dignitaries attending. I would like to ask the local Veterans to stay after the ceremony and help judge the Military Themed Posters which are created by our students and help decide which ones receive awards.

November 12
Concord M. B. Church will celebrate their 145th Church Anniversary on Sunday, November 12, at 3:pm. The guest speaker will be Rev. Anthony Robinson from St. John Baptist Church, Newton, Ms. A special memorial ceremony will be held at Concord on Saturday, November 11, beginning at 12:00 p.m.

November 12
First Baptist Church Morton welcomes Dr. Carl Duck November 12. Dr. Duck served as pastor at First Baptist Church Morton in 1952 until 1955. Dr. Duck will deliver the 11:00 a.m. service to celebrate his 90th birthday November 7.  Dr. Duck is starting his bucket list of preaching at each church he served as pastor during his career. Dr. Duck and his wife Bonnie reside in Brentwood, Tennessee.

November 13-21
A silent auction for the benefit of the Excel Learning Center’s educational programs will be held from November 13-21. Among the more than one hundred items to be featured in the silent auction are the following: two hand-crafted vases by wood artist Terry Thompson, LOV pottery from Donna Vosburg, a Walter Peyton football jersey, hand quilted items, a glider rocker, two sets of pots and pans, and baby afghans.
The silent auction will take place at the Excel Learning Center, 383 South Fourth Street, Morton. Bidding will open on the free Bingo evening –— Saturday, November 11.  Bidding can continue from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily from Monday through Friday, November 13-21. 
November 16
Mississippi State University Extension in Scott County, Scott County Mississippi Homemaker Volunteers and Forest Community Arts will sponsor “Creative Christmas”, Thursday, November 16, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Forest National Guard Armory.  There will be an admission fee of $1.00.   Make plans to attend this holiday event, which will feature arts, crafts, and baked goods by local artisans as well as a variety of other items available for purchase.  Forest Community Arts will sponsor “Vinyl Crafting” by Mary Jones.  The VFW and American Legion will also be selling plates for $6.00 and drinks for $1.00.  Please bring a donation of non-perishable food for the Scott County Crisis Center.
