Benefit program for Catherine Shepard’s son that was in a car wreck will be Feb. 24 at New Beginning Church in Hillsboro at 6:00 p.m. Featuring John T. Lewis and the New Gospel Keystones of Jackson, Betty Viverette and Stevie Williams.


February 25

Green Grove United Methodist Church locted at 1689 Norris-Homewood Road, Lake, will celebrate its annual Black History Program on Sunday, Feb. 25. The morning service will start at 12:00 noon and the Black History Program will follow at 1:30 p.m.


February 26

American Legion Post 9 will honor veterans who passed away during 2017 in a Post Everlasting ceremony Monday, February 26, 6:30 p.m., at the Legion hut. March 4

Sylvester United Methodist Church Spring Revival will begin on Sunday, March 4 at 11:00 a.m. with pastor E.J. Shepard and following at 1:00 p.m., Pastor Timothy Croft of Line Pilgrim M.B. Church will deliver the afternoon message. Services will continue on Monday night at 7:00 p.m.


This Week

A $1,000 scholarship is being offered to high school seniors planning to become nurses. April 14

The Scott County Sheriff’s Dept. 12th Annual Golf Tournament will be held on April 14 beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the Forest Country Club. The Deadline for entry is April 5. For more information and registration contact Richard Gregory at 601-469-3223.




Forest Community Head Start is still registering 3 and 4 year-old children for the upcoming school year.  Your child must be 3 or 4 on/or before September 1, 2018.  Registration hours are:  Monday - Friday : 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. In the event that you need to come later, please call the center to make an appointment. You will need to bring the following documents:

• Child's Birth Certificate

• Child's 121 Shot Record

• Proof of Income for the previous 12 months (2017)

• Child's Insurance/Medicaid/CHIPS Card

• Doctor's Statement of any Special Needs
