Welcome to Master William Threadgill of Memphis, Tennessee, who made his first trip to Forest on Saturday for a visit with his great grandmother Jean Palmer and great uncle Scott Palmer. This adorable young man was accompanied by his parents, Will and Amy Threadgill.
Congratulations to the 2017 Citizens of the Year, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Lee! There will be a reception honoring them at Colbert Commons on November 30th from 3:30-5:00 p.m. Please make plans to join us.
Forest Rotarians enjoyed a special program last Wednesday when Sylvia Howell Krebs made an informative and delightful presentation on her recently published book, “81 Straight.” She told of experiences during her FHS days as a star basketball player on the highly-acclaimed Bearkitten team during the mid-1950s. Sylvia was accompanied by her husband Ed and longtime friend Glinda Smith. Gene Walker was the program chairman.
Dr. Jimmy and Sharon Hollingsworth were recently in Atlanta, Georgia, for the annual session of the American Dental Association. Jimmy serves as a Delegate from Mississippi to the House of Delegates. While there, they attended the UMMC School of Dentistry dinner hosted by Dr. and Mrs. David Felton, Dean of the dental school. During their Atlanta stay, they visited Jimmy's uncle and aunt, Dr. Clyde and Alberta Harrison.
Sincere sympathy to the family of Tamara Madden Risher who died Thursday at her home in Sebastopol. Tam is survived by her husband Clyde "Shot" Risher and two daughters, Krisan Williams and Kimberly Norman and four grandchildren as well as her mother, Nett Madden. Services were Sunday at Forest Baptist Church with burial in Faulkner Cemetery.
Allen and Mitzi Breland enjoyed a visit to Oxford last Friday for the Louisiana/Ole Miss football weekend.
New grandmother, Anita Nettles spent last Wednesday night in Madison with Grandson Benjamin Wesley Harrison. He is the month old son of Ashley Nettles Harrison and Wesley Harrison, who was born October 12, weighing 6 lb. 15 oz. and was 19.5 inches long.
Needless to say, Anita and Troy are very excited about this new arrival!
So sorry to learn of the death of FHS graduate, Beverly Chambers, who passed away in Arkansas following a nine month bout with cancer. Beverly was buried in Forest last Tuesday, November 14. Our thoughts are with Beverly’s extended family and friends.
Robin Brumfield continues to enjoy his retirement from full time employment, busying his days with R/C airplanes, ministry studies, travel, and preaching twice a month at the Beehive Assisted Living Home in Forest. He and Zoe have booked another cruise for 2018 to the Bahamas, so that will be coming up in several months.
Rhett Mitchell enjoyed a visit with friends while in town last week on business.
Friday night guests of Irene Martin were “Harvey” Wayne, Cathy, Elijah and Justus Harvey and Steve, Karon, Mary, Tara Martin and Zach Whittington. The happy occasion was to celebrate Steve Martin’s birthday.
Judge Tom Lee traveled with Forest natives Jimmy Underwood and Dr. Mart McMullin to Rosemary Beach, Florida where they were met by another native Mississippian, Ray McPhail of Highlands, North Carolina. The four Mississippi College friends enjoyed four days of visiting and reminiscing. Norma Ruth Lee spent that time in New Albany/Blue Mountain/Tupelo and attended a variety of special activities.
Next week is the joint service of the Forest Baptist and Methodist churches. Please plan to attend the service, this year hosted by the Forest United Methodist Church!
