To: Billy Meeks on being honored with the Golden Gavel Plaque for Outstanding Service to the City of Morton, presented by Morton Chamber of Commerce President, David Farris at the 59th Annual Chamber Banquet held at Morton Activities Center, Farris Park.

To:  Brenda McCaughn on receiving a gift of appreciation from Morton Chamber of Commerce upon the announcement of her planned retirement following 35 years of service to the City of Morton and surrounding area as Chamber Executive.  Her knowledge and expertise in this capacity has been the force behind many great advances and events for our community.  Realizing that 35 years provides the opportunity to have a much deserved “break”, everyone knows that this only releases her to work even harder.  She is an inspiration and example of dedication and commitment.  May God bless you, Brenda. Your exceptional skills will be sorely missed.

Prayers and concern for:  Estell Boxx, Ann Grant, Dr. Howard Clark, Bob Lockert in the loss of his trailer residence by fire and continued concern for Derick Hudson, Jimmy Ott and Buddy Lovett.

Bell, Charles “Sonny” Magers of Terry — former resident of Morton, Dorothy Jean Latham, Angela Warnsley, Billy Broomhall, Wilson Wooten, Doris Lester, Margaret Ann Toney Sims, Aretha Shaw, Ivory Holmes, Ethel Robinson and Betty Lou Thames.

Travelin’, visitin and such:  The flu epidemic has severely curtailed travelin’ and visitin’ with the public being requested to stay in their own homes when possible.  We hope that you and yours are not the victim of this malady.  If/when any of you readers have news to share, please do.
