Once upon a time many years ago animals unimaginable  roamed this earth leaving behind links into history with their bones buried beneath the surface, today known as fossils.

According to Webster, fossils are the remains or impressions of a prehistoric organism preserved in petrified form or as a mold or cast in rock.

Arrest Report January 31

The following persons were entered into the docket at the Scott County Detention Center January 17 - January 24. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Brian Nicholas Revette

Brian Nicholas Revette, 35, of Lake, went to be with the Lord on February 5, 2018.

Visitation was Thursday, February 8, from 5-8 p.m. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest, MS. Funeral services were held on Friday, February 9, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Lake, MS, followed by graveside service at Dennis Cemetery, Lake, MS.

Grandparents’ Valentines Banquet is Saturday

The deacons of Harperville Baptist Church hosted a Stew Supper on Sunday night which they prepared and served to the church family. 

The HBC Annual Grandparents’ Valentines Banquet will be Saturday, February 17th at 6 p.m.

More than 85 people braved the inclement weather on Sunday for the Surround the Library with Love event at the Forest Public Library.  The afternoon appreciation tea was hosted by the Friends of the Library and featured a slide show of the library’s programs for the past year, along with special recognition of the library’s partners and patrons

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.
