Hunter opens new salon in Sebastopol

Emily Ann Monk Hunter, Owner/Stylist, opened the door and welcomed everyone in during the Grand Opening of Be-YOU-tiful Salon in Sebastopol recently.

Hunter is the daughter of Arthur and Lisa Sistrunk Monk, the granddaughter of Thomas and Mecia McKee, and the late Buddy Monk, and Mike and Peggy Graham, all of Sebastopol.

According to the general definitions of this term, the majority of us have been or are impertinent with others and with God. That means that we often do not keep the due respect when we insult someone. We are of a hard and ungrateful treatment, and in our daily work, we are imprudent.

Announcements:  Friends of the Library will meet in the conference room of Morton Public Library on Wednesday, December 6 at noon. Everyone is invited/encouraged to attend.  Some additional organizational business will be conducted and a reception including light refreshments will be served.


Lake Grand Marshall

In Lake, where Izeary Body, pictured , served as Grand Marshall, Pat Jordan won first place truck and second place went to Todd Jordan. Wayne Jordan won Mayor’s Choice. In the car division winners were, first place, Jody Jordan and second place, Sonny Steele. Wayne Wimberly claimed Mayor’s Choice.

Forest Parade

Christmas parades were held in three of Scott County’s municipalities in the last week heralding the holiday season. Pictured, Community Bank of Forest claimed top honors in the Forest Parade’s Red Division. Second place went ot Bank of Forest and Third place was claimed by Lackey Memorial Hospital.


Dilley Honored

Jessica Dilley, a planning engineer at the Mississippi Department of Transportation, was honored as Young Engineer of the Year at the 2017 winter meeting of the Mississippi Engineering Society. Pictured from front left are Gracyn Dilley, Mrs. Kermit Reynolds, Erin West and Anna Blair West.


Sheriff’s Toy Drive

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department 2nd Annual Toy Drive is right on track and happening right now. They have a large drop off box in their lobby and it is open to the public 24 hours a day. There is also a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.
