Calendar January 17

There is no charge for announcements to run in Community Calendar for two consecutive weeks. If you would like your event publicized more than the two complimentary times, the cost is $20 per week.



Teacher of the Year

Forest School District Teachers of the year awards from left are Lindsay White Middle School English teacher, Robin Sistruck was also recognized for being district teacher of the year for the elementary school, and Katherine Grisham who received the award for the High School

Do others see us as someone who demands their own way?  Are we always arguing and debating trying to prove we’re right?  Do we really care about the desires and needs of others?  Do our actions and words reflect the lifestyle of Jesus?



Eugene Odom

Victor Eugene Odom, age 63 a resident of  the Pea Ridge community near Forest, died Monday January 8, 2018 surrounded by his loving family, following an extended illness.

Doris Hydrick

Doris Hydrick, wife of Tom Hydrick, entered Heaven after a short illness on December 24th, 2017. Doris and Tom were Forest residents for a long time. He established Tom Hydrick Motors, a fixture in the Forest community and both were members of the Forest Baptist Church. Doris was a Sunday School teacher and loved home life and gardening.

Union Grove/Sylvester UMC   Spirit of Sharing Program will be Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Roosevelt State Park in Morton.  Please bring at least 2 non perishable goods for each person in attendance as a donation.

Pelahatchie man charged with Christmas Day murder of father in Scott County

A 19-year-old man is in custody after the alleged murder of his father.

Sheriff Mike Lee said last week that early Christmas morning the sheriff’s department responded to a call at 1634 Riverbend Rd in Scott County, the residence of Wayne Adcocks. Adcocks, 57, was shot once in the head.
