Cindy Craig Harrell, age 52 a resident of Clifton, MS, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Lackey Hospital in Forest, MS.  Visitation was held from  5-9 p.m. Monday, December 4, 2017 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest and from 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Ruth F. Marty, 102, went home to be with her Lord at Lackey Convalescent Home in Forest, MS, on Sunday, December 3, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Edmund John Marty. She was born to the late Fred and Beulah Fussner, of Mentor, Ohio on September 13, 1915 in Willoughby, Ohio.

Winona Marie Aycock Babb, 89, a resident of Pearl, MS passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017 at MS Care Center of Morton. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with the interment in Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl, MS. Visitation was Monday from 5:00 p.m.

Herman L. McKenzie

Herman L. McKenzie, of Madison, a respected educator in Mississippi for forty-three years, died at St. Dominic Hospital on Saturday, November 18, at age 87.  At his bedside was his son, Kevin and his wife of fifty-eight years, Loyce.


Forest Parade

Christmas parades were held in three of Scott County’s municipalities in the last week heralding the holiday season. Pictured, Community Bank of Forest claimed top honors in the Forest Parade’s Red Division. Second place went ot Bank of Forest and Third place was claimed by Lackey Memorial Hospital.




Lake Grand Marshall

In Lake, where Izeary Body, pictured , served as Grand Marshall, Pat Jordan won first place truck and second place went to Todd Jordan. Wayne Jordan won Mayor’s Choice. In the car division winners were, first place, Jody Jordan and second place, Sonny Steele. Wayne Wimberly claimed Mayor’s Choice.


Sheriff’s Toy Drive

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department 2nd Annual Toy Drive is right on track and happening right now. They have a large drop off box in their lobby and it is open to the public 24 hours a day. There is also a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.

Mr. Edward A. Street, age 80, left his earthly body on Monday November 20, 2017 at his home in Lake, MS. Visitation was held on Wednesday November 22, 2017 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:50 p.m. at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS. Funeral Services were held on Wednesday November 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.

Mr. Billy Moore Pace, age 83, passed away on Wednesday November 22, 2017 at his home in Forest, MS. Visitation was held on Saturday November 25, 2017 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Wolf Funeral Services in Morton, MS and again on Sunday November 26, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 1:50 p.m. at Cash Baptist Church in Lena, MS.

Mrs. Debra Faye McElhenney Crawford, age 60, passed away on Saturday November 18, 2017 at her home in Decatur, MS.
