Highway Work:
Thanks to MDOT for providing resurfacing of Highway 21! The delays have been hard but it was needed so bad! Due to heat and rain the delays in getting it completed made it last a bit longer. The wait and traffic delays were worth the finished product!
Just heard that autumn officially begins September 22nd. We just wish our life away wanting things to change and not enjoy the moment. Now is the time to take advantage of the last of fresh veggies. I am sharing a “Tomato pie” recipe that is better this time of year while tomatoes are still in season: Ingredients needed
6 Roma tomatoes sliced
1/4 tsp. Salt
1-4 tsp. Pepper
1/2 tsp. Basil
1/2 cup chopped green onion
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese
Purchase or make. a deep dish pie shell and bake in oven 425 degrees for 5 minutes. Put tomatoes in baked pie shell. Mix other ingredients (except mayonnaise and cheese) and sprinkle over tomatoes. Mix mayonnaise and cheese (it will be lumpy) and sprinkle over tomatoes. Bake 400 degrees for about 25 minutes. Then enjoy!
If you need to cut back on meat eating or like me and don’t really care for meat, a good way to enjoy meatless spaghetti is: cook spaghetti and drain and set aside. Microwave some spaghetti sauce, of your choice. Layer spaghetti, sauce and good serving of cheese of your choice. Can reheat if desired. Add a green salad and toasted bread for a complete meal.
EBC NEWS: next Sunday, 8/13, King’s Kids will meet for “Back to School” activities, Sunday, 8/20, Our 130th Homecoming at 10 a.m. followed by meal, Monday 8/21 thru 8/23 Revival services at 7 p.m. each night. (Our Sunday School lesson from Psalm 51:1-17 was a great study just before our Revival. I invite you to read this. We tend to think this passage applies to big sins, like David’s. But in God’s eyes a sin is not big or little. All are sins!
Our Pastor, Bro Chris Harrison sang our special for this past Sunday morning. “The Anchor Holds”. He gave us the writer, Christopher Chewning, story behind this song. The year of 1992 began a year known as the year of sorrows for this Christian man. He and his wife suffered a third miscarriage. He took six months off from pastoring and began playing the piano. He would play for hours at a time. He then began playing a song he had never heard before. He realized it was in the process of him writing it. It was a therapeutic song for him personally that helped him get through his discouragement and depression. This song was titled “The Anchor Holds”. It is such a touching song especially when you know the facts about the writer. (For more on his Christian work and life, Google the title of the song).
Prayer list: Linda Rushing, Rosemary Montgomery, Jean Townsend, Kathy Murdie, Janelle Crimm, Rickey Bradshaw and Dale Perkins. Let's all pray for all the Teachers, Students and supporting personnel as they return to school this week!
It’s getting close to time to begin our fall outside touch up’s around the home. The easy way to clean mold, scum and wasp and spider residue without scrubbing is mix up the following: 1/2 gal. bleach, 2 cups of Fabulosa and 2 gallons of warm water. (You can cut formula in one/half if desired). Mold prevention mix up water and vinegar 50/50 and spray, after the above cleaning has dried, to areas that tend to mold.
Have a God blessed week and share it with others!
