Forest Elementary School is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair through Friday, March 23. Funds raised will help purchase books for the media center, classroom libraries, and students. The Book Fair will feature a special family community open house on Thursday, March 22, from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m.
First Baptist Church Morton will host a Community Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, March 24 at 10:00 a.m. at the Family Life Center. Ages 2-10. Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Chips and drink served. Everything is free. Everyone is invited!
The Scott County Branch NAACP will meet Saturday, March 24 at 9:00 a.m. at the Midway Freewill Baptist Church. State president will be there at 10:00 a.m. to discuss some important issues in Scott County.

The Scott County Mississippi Homemaker Volunteer (MHV) Cultural Arts Show will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2018 in the Mississippi State University Extension Scott County office located at 230 South Davis Street in Forest. Art exhibits submitted by MHV members for judging will be on display for public viewing from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
The Scott County MHV monthly Leader Training will be held at 1:30 p.m. following the Cultural Arts Exhibit. The program on “Keeping your Home Pest Free” will be presented by Dr. Blake Layton, Entomologist at Mississippi State University.

The Excel Learning Center in Morton will host a Basic Sewing class on Tuesday, March 27, 6:00-7:30 p.m. Participants will practice sewing skills on a sewing machine by making a simple pair of children’s pants or shorts with an elastic waistband. Those participating are asked to bring a pair of children’s pants or shorts as a pattern.
Marie Harman and Shelly Bump are the instructors for the Sewing class. The fee is $15, which includes all needed materials. The class limit is six participants. Register by stopping at Excel, 383 South 4th St., Morton, or phone 601-732-1800.
