Congratulations to Jan Risher, who is having a collection of her columns published this fall by the University of Louisiana Lafayette Press! Jan is an FHS grad, and the very talented daughter of Gary and Nelda Risher. Many of you will remember the fascinating columns Jan wrote for this paper, years ago, when she spent some time abroad.

Reunion time is almost here!!! Forest’s eighth annual “Nabs and Coke Party” is July 20-21 in Forest, commencing with the 6:00 p.m. dinner on Friday night at Gatewood Gallery (Reservations required). Following the dinner, all the reunion group is invited to gather at Downtown Park where popular Duck Gumbo will again entertain. On Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. Jimmy Shaw opens to visitors his museum, “Remember When.” The Oak is opening for lunch for those who want to get a bite to eat before heading at 1:30 p.m. to the “original” Nabs Party at Kats Kave. Hope you’ll join the fun, organized by friends of the Forest High School Reminiscing Site.
We Iook forward to returning each year to celebrate our roots and reminisce over experiences we had, growing up in this amazing town.
Tom and Margaret Burns have relished an extended stay on the Florida coast, enjoying the sun and white sand beach.
The class of 1958 will celebrate its 60th reunion on Saturday, July 21st. The gathering will convene at 10:30 a.m. at Penn’s Restaurant in Forest for a time of fellowship, food and sharing. A number of former classmates plan to eat lunch there before adjourning to join other FHS alum at the Kat’s Kave for the Nabs & Coke gathering at 1:30. Helping spread the word to former class members we have been unable to reach, will be greatly appreciated. For further information please contact Rhett Mitchell at 601-812-9401 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
Heard an interesting story about Joyce Lathem, who had health problems for several weeks and had difficulty getting a diagnosis. Finally she was told she had inner ear trouble and was told to go to physical therapy. To her surprise this therapy worked and she is now much better. She reports that she never expected physical therapy could be used to treat inner ear problems. Glad you’re so much better, Joyce! Thanks for sharing, and perhaps helping others in the process.
