Many of our readers will be interested in learning of the recent death of Herman L. McKenzie, Jr. “Bub” died Saturday, November 18th at St. Dominics Hospital at the age of 87 following an extended illness. He is survived by his wife Loyce, son Kevin, a granddaughter and a great grandson as well as his sister Beverly Ashmore. Services were held on Tuesday at Galloway United Methodist Church with burial in Parkway Cemetery. Our thoughts continue to be with his family and many friends.
You won’t want to miss the joint Sunday, December 3rd Christmas Cantata hosted this year by the Forest United Methodist Church.
That day the church community will also be celebrating the Retirement from the FUMC of Nell Stewart, who has faithfully supported the work of the church for over 45 years. There will be a reception in her honor Sunday afternoon from 2:00-4:00 pm. in the Fellowship Hall. Her official retirement will become official at the end of December.
Recently learned that Norma Ruth Lee’s cousin’s (Dr. John Ford) son is the lead trumpet player in Alabama’s “Million Dollar Band.” If you follow any Alabama football, you might watch for band member, David Ford, as he has already been featured in performances several times.
Family fun at the Mayors Cup in Biloxi last weekend: Joe “Mitch” Mitchell won the Grandmasters, and was only two points away from the state all time high for his division. and daughter Peri placed 3rd in her age group(13-18). Proud Momma also participated and Jennifer laughed that she was just happy to finish! Congratulations to all three!

Ben and Loren McKibbens visited with Ouida Mitchell on her birthday, last Monday. Both agreed she looked fantastic! Merrill Mitchell of Dolphin Island joined her mom for a birthday lunch at Westminster in Spanish Fort, Alabama. The McKibbens drove on to Birmingham where they met Missy and Loren Jane Roper, caravaning with them on Tuesday to North Carolina for Thanksgiving in Black Mountain and Charlotte.
