Scott Central Band excells at Disney World

The Scott Central Rebel Pride Marching Band performed at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom over Spring Break. Scott Central Band Director, Dustin Haley, commented:

“One of my dreams has always been to have a band that was well-disciplined enough and talented enough to take to Disney World. Well, that dream finally came true this weekend and I can’t tell you how proud I am of this group of students. They have come a long way, in a short amount of time starting with All Superiors in the fall of 2016 for the first time in seven years, qualifying and going to the State Marching Championships in 2016, to overall All Superiors again at Marching Evaluations in 2017.  Then to defeating several bands at marching championships this same year, and being invited to perform at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom after seeing our championship performances in 2016 and 2017. And finally doing a fantastic job with the parade at Disney World this weekend!! Congrats to the SC Rebel Pride Band! The sky is the limit!  Also, a big shout out to our Principal, Patrick Henderson, for helping us make this happen and to my assistant, Kathleen Riser, for all her help with rehearsals.”

The Scott Central Beauty and Beau Pageants will be held on April 7. Entry forms are available in the elementary and high school offices.  The deadline to enter is March 23.

Parents, report cards will be issued to students this Thursday.

The HBC Haiti Mission Team is busily preparing for their trip by getting passports, updating vaccinations and raising funds to cover their expenses. The team hosted a Meal with a Mission on Sunday and collected donations. Plans are underway for a rummage sale to benefit the team. Clean out those closets and donate unneeded items to this worthy cause. Donated items may be dropped off at the Harperville Baptist gym.

All ladies from HBC, and the community, are cordially invited to a fun evening of fellowship and food on Friday, March 30. The church bus will leave at 5:30 p.m. for a meal at Ichiban Restaurant in Flowood.

The Children’s Ministry will host an Easter Party and Egg Hunt from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 31. On Easter morning, there will be a church-wide fellowship breakfast at 9:00 a.m. followed by the worship service at 10:00 a.m.
