Dixie National in Jackson, Mississippi!

We should all be proud that our State has the annual Dixie National! So many youth get to show their animals, ride and etc. to compete for prizes. This is such a great learning tool that takes lots of work. It features too many things to name and the amount of money it brings in is amazing. I noticed that one family travelled from Mexico to compete.

With all that being said, it is heart wrenching to see that someone stooped so low as to steal Miss Mississippi High School Rodeo Queen (Karla Dixon’s) prize awarded saddle. It had “2017 Miss Mississippi High School Queen” stamped above the stirrups! A comment on Facebook by a Tennessee rider said “Let everybody know that it’s rampant down there and they’ve got to lock EVERTHING up.”

EBC NEWS: Special prayer request — Please continue to remember Steele Baptist where a fire did extensive damage last Wednesday night. The pastorium was a total loss and there was a lot of damage to their Sanctuary. Pray for them as they recover.

Prayers for the sick — Edna Waldrip, Betty Waggoner, Cheryl McGee, Debra Marler, Caleb Muirhead, Don Hall, Larry McDill, Janet Everett and Carol Ann Jones. I am sure I missed some and prayers that the flu virus will go away. Sincere sympathy to the families of Pam Parker Smith, Nick Milton and Gerome Copeland in their loss of loved ones.

Sunday, February 18th is the time for monthly Men’s Breakfast! Men of all ages are invited to meet in the Family Life Center for food, fellowship and devotional. Franklin Graham’s comment about Tim Tebow — “Tim Tebow has dedicated his platform on Tim Tebow Foundation to sharing the love of Christ with people around the world. This past Friday night was the 4th Annual ‘Night to Shine’ which is an event put on by over 500 Churches, around the world, to celebrate with Special Needs children. It is geared around showing them that God loves them. This mission is to bring Faith, Hope and Love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour!”

“My five year old brother’s eyes grew large as our father opened the top drawer of his dresser. Seeing John’s reaction, Dad took out his Purple Heart medal and explained how he’d earned it during the Korean War. John was so impressed, the only thing he managed to say was, “Dad, are all those socks really yours?” The mind of a child. (God bless them)

“I spent more than two hours in the beauty shop getting my hair permed, cut and styled. Relieved to be done, I went up to the Receptionist to pay ‘Good afternoon!’ She said cheerfully. ‘And who's your appointment with today?’”

“A mother instructed her child about calling 911 in an emergency. Asking, if you found me on the floor and you couldn’t wake me up what would you do? One mother could see her little brain working and to her surprise she replied, ‘I’d go into the kitchen and eat anything I want.’”

Have a blessed week and share it with others.
