Mildred Jean Wilcher Warren, age 74, passed away on April 21, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family in Morton, MS.

Mildred was born in Scott County, MS to Danny and Tilda Perkins.


Gerry Michael Shoemaker

Gerry Michael Shoemaker, born September 3, 1964, in Morton, MS, passed away at his home in D’Lo on April 19, 2018.

Michael was the owner of the D’Lo Antique Store in D’Lo, MS

Michael is survived by his brother, Jerry Shoemaker (Debbie); his sisters, Sherry Roby (John) and Shelia Moudy (Paul).

Patriotism at its finest

Back in 1992 my wife, Danny, and I lived in a wonderful old farmhouse in the quaint north central Mississippi town of Carrollton. We had just finished restoring the house — if you can ever finish restoring a 100-year-old home — and were beginning to think about starting a family. That twinkle in the eye thing.

Second Annual Toy Drive underway

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.

Carolyn R. Garvin,

Carolyn R. Garvin, 78, of Fulton entered Heaven’s gates on October 27, 2017, following a valiant fight against cancer.
She was born on July 9, 1939 in Smith County, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Oliver Regions and the late Velma (Thompson) Regions.


JAMES L. OTT

James L Ott, 82, was at home with his heartbroken family, as he quietly slipped from life into death. Because of his strong Christian faith, he left with neither regrets or disappointments about the life he had been given.  He loved his life but did not fear death.


Frank Warren Mize

Frank Warren Mize passed away on October 6, 2017.  Frank was born in Forest, MS on September 19, 1927. He attended Forest High School, Hinds Junior College, and graduated from Mississippi State with an Engineering degree.  Frank served in the Navy during WWII.

Eighth Graders Tour Nissan Plant

Rev. Kerry and Mrs. Twyla Jackson, Baptist missionaries from downtown Atlanta, were hosted by Harperville Baptist Church Sunday night.  Rev. Jackson presented a message and then painted a portrait of Christ while accompanied by music.
