Judge and Mrs. Lee go to Washington

Judge Tom Lee and wife Norma Ruth were in Washington D.C. May 6-8 for the Ninth Quadrennial Conference of the Federal Judges Association.

The national gathering of Article III Judges was held at the Washington Georgetown Marriott and featured a variety of speakers, book fairs, tributes and museum tours.


Scholar Athletes

Forest High School recently recognized the exceptional academic achievement of students who participated in sports during the 2017 – 2018 school year.  The Scholar Athlete awards are presented each year to the student with the highest first semester grade point average on their respective team at FHS.


3A state semifinals

Forest High School mixed doubles tennis team of Kelly Atkison and Kayro Serrano-Arteaga competed in the Mississippi High School Athletic Association Tennis 3A state championship tennis tournament held in Oxford on May 7-9. The mixed doubles pair made it through the playoff bracket to the semi-finals.


Memorial Day 2018

Memorial Day, a federal holiday to honor and memorialize those men and women who have died while serving our great nation, will be observed Monday, May 28. 

Appropriate ceremonies will be held throughout the nation, and government offices, banks, post offices, and some businesses will be closed in observance of the holiday.

Morton senior Coby Gilbert eyes the double play in third round action of the MHSAA State Baseball Playoffs against Seminary. The Panthers lost game one 4-2 and dropped a heartbreaker 10-9 to the Bulldogs to end their season last Friday in Seminary.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.
