During a recent awards ceremony, the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) recognized employees for their years of continuous service to the agency. The executive director and the Mississippi Transportation Commission thank these employees for their hard work and dedication to the agency.

Marshall Massey awarded Lackey Hospital Auxiliary nursing scholarship

The Lackey Hospital Auxiliary awards an annual $1,000 nursing scholarship to a local graduate that has demonstrated academic excellence and plans to further their education in the medical field. The auxiliary group selects the recipient from applications submitted by students from all local area high schools.

Reynolds signs with Cubs

Luke Reynolds, pictured here with Jaron Madison, Chicago Cubs Scouting Director, recently signed his first Major League Baseball contract. He is currently in Mesa, AZ playing in the rookie league with the Arizonia League Cubs while waiting to find out which Cub’s minor league affiliate he will be assigned to play.

Independence Day 2018

Independence Day, which is also referred to as the 4th of July is a Federal Holiday. Barbecues, fireworks, big retail sales, picnics, baseball games etc. are all things we tend to do on this day. Independence Day evokes so many images of the American summer.



Boyd Allen “Pharoah” Ramage

Boyd Allen “Pharoah” Ramage, Sr., 65, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at his home.  Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018 and 1-2 p.m. Sunday at Jordan Funeral Home in Kosciusko.  Funeral services were Sunday at the Jordan Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at North Union Cemetery. Rev. Shane Thrash and Rev.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.
