James W. Wolverton passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018. Funeral services will be conducted by Wilcox Funeral Home, 106 S. Jordan St., Carthage, MS 39051 at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday, April 20. Interment with Military Honors will follow at High Hill Cemetery in Walnut Grove. Rev.

Dorothy “Dot” Leonard

Dorothy “Dot” Leonard of Trussville, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018. Dot was a native of Sebastopol. She proudly served in the Women’s Armed Corp (WAC) for the U.S. Army in Okinawa, Japan. She retired from The Scott County Times after 21 years of service.

For the ingredients you will need:

6 cans cut string beans  (any brand) and drain 4 cans of beans into a Dutch oven

Fry one half pound of bacon until crisp and set on paper towels

Marines march across Mississippi

On October 16 two Marines, Gabriel Vasquez and Jason Bailess, embarked on a 155 mile “Ruck” across Mississippi, trekking from the Alabama state line to the Mississippi River, in only five days, to raise awareness and support in the battle against Veteran Suicide and Veteran Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD

Bearcats show out in 37-8 win over Kemper County

In their away game, the Forest Bearcats showed off their offensive and defensive chops against the Kemper County Wildcats last Friday night in a decisive 37-8 win. This most recent victory came at a crucial time for the Bearcats, which landed them a spot in the playoffs of the 2017 MHSAA Football Championships of the 3A division.
