At the Forest Area Chamber of Commerce meeting last week, Chris Strebeck was the recipient of the Golden Shovel Award, left photo, for his service to the Chamber and the Ivan Bagley Award was presented to Jeffrey Cooper for his service to the Chamber. Presenting the awards was Drew Kenna.

This is a new recipe shared by a friend, and we have all made it at least twice...maybe more.

For the ingredients you will need:

6 cans cut string beans  (any brand) and drain 4 cans of beans into a Dutch oven

Fry one half pound of bacon until crisp and set on paper towels

Gardening Season Has Arrived

Spring arrived Tuesday and the Forest Garden Club is tilling up the grounds for another great gardening season.

The Forest Garden Club was established in 1962 and is a member of National Garden Clubs, Deep South Garden Clubs, and The Garden Clubs of Mississippi, and is in the Southern Pine District.

James “Rod” Phillips

Funeral services for Mr. James “Rod” Phillips were conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from the Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ray Ingram and Bro. Billy Ray Parker officiating. Interment followed in the Morton Church of God Cemetery under the direction of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton.



Reggie Kenneth Hunter, Sr.

Reggie Kenneth Hunter, Sr., 75, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at his home in Brandon, MS. surrounded by his family.  Visitation was Saturday, December 30, 2017 from 12 Noon until 2 p.m. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.  Funeral Services were at 2:00 p.m.

Second Annual Toy Drive underway

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.
