The City of Forest has made it a priority to bring new and exciting draws to the downtown area. One of the attractions that city officials and private partners have been working hard on is the Sights and Sounds Park located on the corner of S. Main Street and Front Street in downtown Forest.

On Wednesday, August 8, the Scott County Sheriff Department responded to a call of a burned-out car that was abandoned on a Bienville National Forest service road. When deputies arrived on scene they made a shocking discovery of what appeared to be severely burned human remains in the torched car.

The crisp morning air and chilly breeze felt good just before daylight Monday morning as I walked the dogs. It felt like it should feel this time of year. It was just the opposite Saturday in Starkville where we suffered through the heat in the football stadium, and as much or more so beneath the tailgate tents.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.
On Sunday, November 26, 2017, at approximately 1:15 p.m., La Bendicion convenience store was robbed by two individuals with handguns.

The American Legion Post #9 of Forest will sponsor Dr. David M. Walker as orator at the Veteran’s Day Program at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 10 at the Scott County Courthouse.
On October 25 Tyson Foods, Inc. in Forest, held a Safety Event to celebrate the achievement of reaching one-million man-hours without incident. The Scott County Times was invited to come be a part of the party.
