A Celebration of Life for Douglas Ashley Herring was held, Sunday, August 12, 2018, at First Baptist Church, Starkville, MS, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Visitation was held in the sanctuary from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. Following the service, internment was at Oddfellows Cemetery, Starkville, MS.

Christmas in August

One of my Christmas gifts, from daughter Pam and husband Jim Jeffries, was a trip to any place I wanted to go. I selected Washington D.C. Because the Bible Museum had just opened on 11/16/17... This past week we flew to D.C. and it was really a great adventure.

Time

Time flies when you’re having a good time. Or, so the old saying goes.

It flew by last week while my wife, Danny, and I were on vacation. “Days on the beach sure do go by fast,” I said to her on our way home. Much faster than the days of the week at work, I think.



20 Years of Service

During a recent awards ceremony, the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) recognized employees for their years of continuous service to the agency. The executive director and the Mississippi Transportation Commission thank these employees for their hard work and dedication to the agency.

Sheriff’s Toy Drive

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department 2nd Annual Toy Drive is right on track and happening right now. They have a large drop off box in their lobby and it is open to the public 24 hours a day. There is also a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.

Second Annual Toy Drive underway

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.
