Marshall Massey awarded Lackey Hospital Auxiliary nursing scholarship

The Lackey Hospital Auxiliary awards an annual $1,000 nursing scholarship to a local graduate that has demonstrated academic excellence and plans to further their education in the medical field. The auxiliary group selects the recipient from applications submitted by students from all local area high schools.

Date changed for Youth Feeding Program

Midway Park is open with tables and playground equipment for the children. More is needed in the construction and operations of the park.  Fundraising will become an inevitable objective of the park.  When asked to give, please give as generous as you can.

First Lady Venita Whittington has been in University Hospital. She is out and at home with a lot of specific directions on medications.  Remember her and her family in your prayers.


Valeria Alita Renfroe

After a lengthy battle with Alzheimer Disease, Valeria Alita Renfroe, 93, peacefully died on Tues. June 5, 2018 at Lackey Convalescent Home in Forest, MS with her family and friends by her side. Visitation was held on Thurs. June 7, 2018 from 12:45 p.m. -1:30 p.m. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS. Funeral Services were 1:30 p.m.

AR-15 Affirmation Day

During July 4 range activities Precision Shooting Center held AR-15 Affirmation Day by having only AR-15 rifles shot from 1- 4 pm. The range sponsored and held this event to affirm the rights of citizens under the 2nd Amendment to legally own AR-15s.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Department began accepting donations Monday in their second annualy Sheriff’s Toy Drive. There is a drop off box at the Scott County Sheriff’s Department in the lobby which is open to the public 24 hours a day. There will be a small drop box at Petals & More in Forest.
